Crixus

Crixus was a six-year-old Quarter Horse stallion that someone had left in a field, alone when they moved out of state. There really is no telling how long he was neglected; however, it had been quite some time. Crixus had hooves grown out that looked like clown shoes. He was skinny and emaciated, and he was quite a handful as a six-year-old stallion. There really was no good option for this horse as is. As soon as Wayne looked into his eyes and saw that there was a young horse in there with a lifetime of possibility, the decision was made, and he was coming home with us. This stallion had his first farrier visit that day, and it started the new trajectory of his life in the best way possible. He was responsibly fed, and his weight improved. His feet were rehabilitated. We had the vet out to perform his gelding. All the while, Crixus was loved on, reacclimatized to other horses, and training ensued. It was no time before his confidence was on the rise and his shenanigans were managed. By the end of his time with us, he was riding with purpose and had so much to offer.

The happy ending, and the inspiration for our story, ended with Crixus finding a wonderful home with a loving new owner and lots and lots of yummy grass and friends.
